Distinctive Unit Insignia
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02cm) in height overall consisting of a Greek cross divided horizontally throughout by an M-shaped zigzag with blue above maroon surmounted throughout by a white equilateral triangle and atop the lateral arms of the cross a gold arch of rays passing behind the vertical of the cross; all above a maroon scroll curving around base touching the center of the triangle and inscribed "RESPONSIVE CONCERN" in gold; all areas inclosed by the scroll are green.
Maroon and white are the colors associated with the Army Medical Department. Green is the color related to healing and renewal. The delta symbol (triangular shape) is equivalent to the English letter "D," the first letter in the word dentistry. Gold and silver (white) are the two precious metals used in the practice of the dental science. Together the above refer to the overall mission and capabilities of the unit. The colors blue and maroon, the gold arch (an allusion to the sun) and the zigzag division along with the delta represent Denver, Colorado, the unit's home.
